About Car Sort
Car Sort is a color-sorting puzzle with headlights: toy cars queue in tangled lanes and each one has to reach the garage of its own color.
The rules are simple and the board is not. Only the front car of a lane can move, so the order you unjam the traffic decides whether the lot clears.
How to Play Car Sort
Left-click a garage or lane to lift its front car, then click a target lane to send it there.
A car can only land on a lane whose front car is the same color, or on an empty lane.
Fill a garage with one color to clear it; the freed lane becomes space you can use.
Keep at least one lane empty at all times as your working buffer.
Later lots add double-decker garages, rush-hour timers, and tow trucks that relocate a stuck car for a fee.
Tips & Strategies
- Guard the buffer. Sorting with every lane occupied locks the lot — never fill the last empty lane just because a car fits.
- Finish one garage. A garage cleared in one uninterrupted sequence frees a whole lane, and that lane unlocks the rest of the board.
- Park strays first. When colors tangle bumper to bumper, move the single odd cars into the buffer before touching the pairs.
- Tap before you commit on night shifts. Night lots hide car colors until tapped, so reveal before moving rather than guessing.
