Golden Fish takes one simple idea, a fish that leaps, and turns it into a gentle test of timing. You guide a golden fish with places to be, and the only skill involved is knowing exactly how much power to put behind each jump. The control scheme fits on a sticky note. On a computer, hold down the left mouse button to charge your jump, then let go to launch. On a phone or tablet, touch and hold the screen to build up power and release to spring. A short hold means a little hop, while a long one sends you soaring, so reading the ground ahead and choosing the right amount of charge becomes a small, satisfying puzzle all by itself. Because everything runs on a single gesture, the game is wonderfully easy to share with anyone: kids, grandparents, that friend who claims to be hopeless at video games. It has the calm, classic feel of an arcade toy you can dip into at any moment, and every clean, well-judged leap is its own little reward. One more try is always hard to resist.
